Trap Shooting at Philmont Rod & Gun Club
Whether you’re an experienced shotgun shooter or trying trap shooting for the first time, Philmont Rod & Gun Club welcomes you to our trap range. Our program offers a safe, friendly environment where shooters of all skill levels can improve, enjoy some friendly competition, and connect with fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
One of the best parts of our trap program is that everyone is welcome. You do not need to be a club member to participate—our trap shoots are open to the public. It’s a great way to experience the club and meet our members before deciding to join.
Trap Shooting Schedule
Trap shooting is held year-round on the following days:
- Tuesdays: 1:00 PM until all shooters have finished
- Fridays:
- Fall & Winter (starting around November): 1:00 PM until finished
- Spring & Summer (starting around May): 3:00 PM until finished
- Sundays: 10:00 AM until finished
During October, November, and December, trap shooting may pause briefly if a member needs to sight in a rifle before hunting season. If this applies to you, please stop by the Trap House and let the shooters know you’ve arrived. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation during this busy time of year.
Important Information
For safety reasons, the Rifle and Pistol Range is closed while trap shooting is in progress. Please plan your visit accordingly.
Trap shooting may also be canceled if another club event—such as a 3D Archery Shoot, tournament, or special activity—is scheduled. Before heading to the club, please check the Club Calendar for the most up-to-date schedule.
We also encourage members and guests to attend monthly membership meetings to stay informed about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, facility improvements, and other club activities.
Whether you’re looking to improve your shooting skills, introduce someone new to the sport, or simply enjoy time outdoors, the Philmont Rod & Gun Club Trap Program offers a welcoming experience for everyone. Looking for a fun way to improve your shotgun skills, represent Philmont Rod & Gun Club, and enjoy some friendly competition? Join our trap shooting program!
Whether you’re an experienced shooter or new to the sport, we welcome all club members ages 13 and older to come out and shoot a few rounds. Trap shooting is an excellent way to improve your accuracy, build confidence, and enjoy time with fellow club members in a safe and friendly environment.
The Philmont Trap Team competes in several trap leagues and offers multiple shooting divisions, giving members of all skill levels the opportunity to participate. Whether you’re interested in league competition or simply want to become a better shooter, there’s a place for you on the team.
Regular practice sessions are held at the Philmont Trap House, where experienced shooters are always available to offer guidance and encourage new participants. If you’ve been thinking about trying competitive trap shooting, there’s no better time to get started.
Stop by the Trap House during one of our scheduled shooting sessions to learn more about the team, competition divisions, league schedules, and how to get involved. Our members are always happy to answer questions and help new shooters feel welcome.
