Hunting Opportunities & Landowner Rules

One of the greatest benefits of membership in the Philmont Rod & Gun Club is access to hunting opportunities made possible through the generosity and cooperation of local landowners. Through years of mutual respect and stewardship, the Club has developed relationships that allow members to enjoy access to valuable hunting lands throughout the area.

These opportunities exist because landowners trust our members to act responsibly and respectfully while using their property. Every member represents the Club when entering posted lands, and it is essential that we maintain the highest standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, and conservation.

Members are expected to follow all Club hunting regulations, New York State hunting laws, and any specific restrictions established by individual landowners. Respect property boundaries, avoid damaging crops, fields, fences, gates, or equipment, and always leave the property cleaner than you found it. Be considerate of neighboring properties, livestock, and other outdoor users.

Remember that access to hunting land is a privilege—not a right. Failure to follow Club rules or landowner requests can jeopardize hunting opportunities for all members. By practicing safe and ethical hunting, we help preserve these valuable relationships for future generations of sportsmen and women.

All members hunting on Club-owned or Club-posted properties must carry and display the current Philmont Rod & Gun Club membership button as required. This helps identify authorized users and assists Club officers in ensuring compliance with membership and property-use regulations.

Before heading afield, please review the most current Hunting & Landowner Rules to ensure you understand your responsibilities and obligations while using Club hunting lands.
