Pheasant Hunting Program
Pheasant Hunting Program
The Philmont Rod & Gun Club Pheasant Hunting Program provides members with an outstanding upland bird hunting experience through access to club-managed hunting property and carefully planned bird releases throughout the season. This program is designed to offer quality hunting opportunities while promoting safe, ethical, and responsible sportsmanship.
Program Information
Participation in the Pheasant Hunting Program requires an additional annual program fee in addition to your club membership.
Program Fees
- Regular & Life Members: $100
- Junior Members: $25
Program fees help offset the cost of purchasing and releasing pheasants throughout the hunting season. Payment must be received before participating in any pheasant hunt. Members are encouraged to submit their pheasant program payment with their annual club dues to ensure they are included on the program roster.
Members enrolled in the program will receive bird stocking schedules and release updates by email or text message. Because weather and other factors may affect release dates, schedules are subject to change throughout the season.
Hunting Access
The pheasant hunting property is available only during designated hunting periods and may occasionally be closed for safety, bird stocking, or other operational needs. Members should always verify the current schedule before heading to the field.
All hunters are required to:
- Sign in before hunting and sign out when leaving.
- Record any game harvested and the hunting area used in the provided logbook.
- Display a current Philmont Rod & Gun Club parking pass while on club hunting property.
Preserve Rules
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, the following rules apply:
- Hunting is restricted to current Philmont Rod & Gun Club members only. Guests are not permitted.
- The pheasant preserve closes during New York State regular deer rifle season.
- Hunters must review all preserve rules before obtaining required game possession documentation.
- Hunting hours and temporary closures may be adjusted to accommodate scheduled bird releases. Please follow the published stocking schedule.
- Hunters are limited to two pheasants per day.
- All harvested pheasants must be accompanied by the required New York State carcass possession tag as required by law.
- Hunters must use designated parking and access points.
- All posted safety zones must be respected. Hunting is prohibited within these areas.
- Hunters are required to wear a blaze orange hat and their current club membership button while participating in the program.
- Any released pheasants recovered outside of normal harvest should be reported to the Pheasant Hunting Committee.
Respect the Property
The success of the Pheasant Hunting Program depends on the continued cooperation of our hunting property partners and the responsible actions of every member. Please treat the property with respect by packing out all trash, following all posted rules, practicing safe firearm handling, and showing courtesy to fellow hunters.
By working together, we can continue to provide a quality pheasant hunting experience for current and future members of the Philmont Rod & Gun Club.
